Diagnostic Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Perform advanced diagnostics on complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle systems using manufacturer-approved diagnostic equipment and specialist tools.


• Diagnose customer concerns in the presence of the Service Advisor and customer where required, ensuring issues are accurately identified and explained.


• Prepare detailed diagnostic findings, repair recommendations, and quotations with clear technical comments for the Service Advisor.


• Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections using VDS testers and other diagnostic equipment to identify faults and determine effective repair solutions.


• Review complete vehicle service history and technical records before carrying out repairs.


• Coordinate with Parts Advisors, Team Leaders, Workshop Controllers, and Warranty teams to ensure the correct parts are ordered and repairs are completed efficiently.


• Stay updated with manufacturer technical bulletins, service procedures, and emerging automotive technologies through continuous learning and formal training.


• Ensure all outstanding technical campaigns, recalls, and warranty-related repairs are identified and completed in accordance with manufacturer requirements.


• Differentiate between operational characteristics, system behavior, and genuine technical faults to ensure precise diagnosis.


• Diagnose and repair complex vehicle networking, communication, and distributed electronic systems.


• Maintain and manage the inventory of special diagnostic tools and equipment.


• Ensure warranty procedures and manufacturer guidelines are strictly followed throughout the repair process.


• Prepare technical reports and documentation as required.


• Report quality concerns identified on new vehicles to the appropriate departments.


• Support workshop productivity by identifying additional repair requirements and reporting faulty components.


• Mentor and guide diagnostic technicians, ensuring proper use of diagnostic equipment, special tools, and manufacturer repair procedures.


• Maintain company assets, workshop equipment, and a clean, organized work environment.


• Comply with all company policies, health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.


• Perform additional technical duties assigned by the Service Manager or Master Technician.

Role Purpose

To provide expert technical leadership within the workshop by performing advanced vehicle diagnostics, ensuring accurate and efficient fault resolution, reducing repeat repairs, and supporting workshop productivity. The Master Technician serves as the technical authority for complex repairs while mentoring the diagnostic team and ensuring compliance with manufacturer standards and company procedures.

What We're Looking For

Experience:

• Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in a similar role as a Diagnostic Technician, Senior Automotive Mechanic, Senior Automotive Electrician, or Automotive Mechatronics Engineer.


• Strong experience in advanced vehicle diagnostics, electronic systems, and complex fault finding within an automotive dealership environment.

Education:

• High Diploma in Automotive Mechanics, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.

Certification(s):

• Certified Master Technician qualification is mandatory.


• Additional manufacturer certifications are highly desirable.

Languages:

• Fluency in English is essential.


• Arabic language skills are an advantage.

Licenses:

• Valid UAE Driving License (or eligibility to obtain one) is required.

Software & Technical Skills:

• Computer literate with experience using dealership management systems and manufacturer diagnostic software.


• Proficient in the use of VDS testers and other advanced automotive diagnostic equipment.
