Job Description - ELV Draftsman/FSI -JB -487

Core Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Water Supply Operations: Connect hard suction hoses to the apparatus intake and deploy the strainer into a static water source. [1, 2, 3]
  • Pump Operation: Engage fire pumps, set the correct intake and discharge pressures, and monitor compound gauges to maintain a continuous, uninterrupted water supply. [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • Equipment Maintenance: Inspect suction hoses, gaskets, and strainers for air leaks, perform primer tests, and ensure all drafting equipment is in working order. [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • Tactical Problem Solving: Improvise on the fireground by using rope to suspend strainers, utilizing porta -tanks, or dealing with potential silt/debris. [1, 2]
  • Training: Participate in regular drafting confidence drills and establish water supply relays. [1, 2]
