Job Purpose:
Support the FPD Welfare Sr. Specialist / designate in implementing crew welfare programs and initiatives across the fleet by providing administrative, coordination, communication, and follow-up support. Act as a primary point of contact for routine crew welfare matters, assist in addressing seafarer concerns, maintain welfare records, collect feedback, and contribute to improving the overall wellbeing and engagement of shipboard personnel.
Key Accountabilities:
Crew Welfare Support & Administration
Support the FPD Welfare Sr. Specialist in implementing crew welfare initiatives and programs.
Maintain welfare records, case files, and correspondence related to crew welfare matters.
Assist in handling routine welfare inquiries from seafarers and their families.
Coordinate welfare-related documentation and ensure timely follow-up of assigned cases.
Crew Engagement & Communication
Maintain regular communication with seafarers to identify welfare concerns and provide appropriate guidance within established procedures.
Assist in promoting onboard welfare activities and recreational programs.
Support communication between shipboard personnel and shore-based departments regarding welfare matters.
Prepare welfare communications, surveys, announcements, and awareness materials.
Monitoring, Feedback & Reporting
Collect and consolidate feedback from seafarers regarding onboarding, sign-off processes, accommodation, and working conditions.
Assist in conducting crew surveys and welfare assessments.
Support exit interviews and prepare summary reports for management review.
Maintain welfare statistics and generate periodic reports as required.
Family Assistance & Welfare Coordination
Assist in coordinating welfare support for seafarers and their families during emergencies or challenging situations.
Follow up on welfare cases and ensure timely communication with relevant stakeholders.
Coordinate with internal departments and external service providers when directed by the FPD Welfare Sr. Specialist.
Escalate sensitive or complex welfare matters to the Senior Specialist.
Crew Events & Welfare Activities
Support the planning and execution of crew conferences, seminars, and engagement activities.
Coordinate logistics for senior officer visits and welfare meetings.
Assist in organizing welfare-related events and recognition programs.
Gather feedback following welfare events and recommend areas for improvement.
Qualifications & Experience:
University degree in related field or equivalent.
Maritime industry experience is advantageous.
Relevant certification in HR, employee relations, counselling, employee wellbeing, or a related field is desirable.
Maritime welfare, Digital communication and crew management training would be an advantage.
