HVAC Draftsman – Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed HVAC shop drawings, coordination drawings, and as -built drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP).
  
• Develop ductwork, chilled water, drainage, and ventilation layouts based on engineering designs.
  
• Coordinate HVAC drawings with architectural, structural, electrical, and plumbing disciplines to identify and resolve clashes.
  
• Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, local codes, and applicable standards.
  
• Revise drawings based on engineer and client comments.
  
• Prepare material take -offs and support procurement and project planning.
  
• Maintain organized drawing records and document revisions.
  
• Assist site engineers by providing technical drafting support throughout project execution.
  

Required Skills:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP.
  
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, duct sizing, piping layouts, and mechanical services.
  
• Knowledge of construction drawings, coordination, and shop drawing preparation.
  
• Familiarity with local building codes and HVAC standards.
  
• Strong attention to detail, problem -solving, and organizational skills.
  
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  

Qualifications:

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or a related field.
  
• 2–5 years of experience as an HVAC Draftsman (experience requirements may vary by employer).
  
• Experience with BIM and clash detection software (e.g., Navisworks) is an advantage.
