Fire Fighting BIM Modeler – Job Description
Position: Fire Fighting BIM Modeler
Job Summary:
The Fire Fighting BIM Modeler is responsible for creating, developing, and maintaining accurate 3D BIM models for fire protection and firefighting systems using Revit MEP. The role involves preparing detailed shop drawings, coordinating firefighting services with other MEP disciplines, identifying clashes, and ensuring the model complies with project specifications and applicable fire safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop detailed 3D firefighting BIM models using Autodesk Revit MEP.
Model fire protection systems including fire sprinkler systems, fire hydrant systems, hose reels, wet risers, dry risers, fire pumps, fire tanks, and related piping.
Coordinate firefighting systems with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, architectural, and structural services.
Perform clash detection and resolution using Navisworks Manage.
Review design drawings, specifications, and project requirements before developing the BIM model.
Update models based on design changes, consultant comments, and site requirements.
Prepare as-built BIM models and drawings based on actual site installation.
Extract quantities, pipe sizes, equipment schedules, and other information from BIM models when required.
Ensure proper routing, elevations, clearances, and accessibility of firefighting services.
Maintain BIM models according to project standards, naming conventions, and LOD requirements.
Coordinate with firefighting engineers, MEP coordinators, consultants, contractors, and site teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or MEP preferred.
Strong knowledge of firefighting and fire protection systems.
Proficiency in Autodesk Revit MEP.
Good knowledge of Navisworks Manage for clash detection and coordination.
Ability to read and understand firefighting drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and technical details.
Knowledge of sprinkler piping, hydrant systems, hose reels, fire pumps, and riser systems.
Understanding of NFPA standards and local authority requirements is an advantage.
Good knowledge of MEP coordination and construction practices.
Strong attention to detail and coordination skills.
Preferred Experience:
3–5+ years of experience in Fire Fighting BIM Modeling, preferably with experience in UAE/GCC projects, including high-rise buildings, commercial buildings, residential towers, hotels, hospitals, and large-scale developments.
