Governance & Risk Assurance Analyst

Location: Abu Dhabi

This is a hands-on Governance, Risk & Assurance role within a global commodity trading organisation. The position supports the design, execution, and continuous improvement of the internal control and risk assurance framework.

You will join a specialist Finance Risk team focused on strengthening controls across a complex trading environment, combining day-to-day control oversight with input into broader risk strategy and transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities:

1. Design, implement, and maintain internal control and risk frameworks across trading and support functions, including control testing and effectiveness reviews.
2. Identify control gaps and operational risks, and track remediation actions through to closure.
3. Support internal and external audit processes, including issue resolution and follow-up.
4. Monitor key control indicators and produce regular risk and controls reporting.
5. Conduct process and control reviews to identify improvement opportunities and support framework enhancements as the business scales.
6. Contribute to risk and control inputs across strategic and cross-functional initiatives, driving automation and continuous improvement in control design.
7. Promote a strong risk-aware culture through consistent governance practices and collaboration across finance, trading, operations, and technology teams.
8. Support and deliver risk awareness training and reinforce adherence to policies and procedures.

1. 5+ years’ experience, including 3+ years in a global commodity trading environment
2. Exposure to physical and financial trading flows across risk, operations, controls, or accounting
3. Strong understanding of internal controls, risk frameworks, and control testing
4. Experience with ETRM systems preferred
5. Knowledge of IFRS, COSO, COBIT advantageous
