Head of Audit - UAE Nationals

The Opportunity

A leading international bank in the UAE is hiring a Head of Audit to plan and direct the strategic management, supervision and control of internal audit policy and practice across the UAE and the wider region. The role provides insight and independent advice to the Chief Internal Auditor and the Group Audit team on the effectiveness and adequacy of internal controls, driving compliance with internal policy and external legal and regulatory obligations. This position is open to UAE Nationals only.

Location: Dubai

Reports to: Chief Internal Auditor

Team: Regional audit teams across the UAE and other locations in the region

What You Will Own

• Audit framework and risk: develop and implement an effective, robust audit framework. Identify and evaluate risks arising from the internal and external operating environment through audit findings, assessment, evaluation and research, and provide opinions and viable solutions.


• Reporting: prepare audit reports that are accurate and consistent with reporting standards and guidelines, and highlight irregularities and potential risks.


• Monitoring and control: oversee all audit activity across the region to ensure compliance with internal policy, act on areas of non-compliance, and ensure the bank operates in line with the expectations of all stakeholders, including regulators. Review existing policies, processes and practices, take corrective action and protect the best interests of the bank.


• People and talent: develop talent and raise team productivity across the audit teams through consistent direction, support, coaching and training.


• Budget and resourcing: run the annual budget review and secure the resources needed to achieve the objectives agreed with the Chief Internal Auditor.

What You Bring

• UAE National (a requirement for this role).


• 8 to 10 years of audit experience with reputable international organisations or banks, including Big 4 firms.


• Familiarity with retail and commercial banking (preferred).


• CA, ACCA, CPA or an equivalent qualification.


• CISA or CIA certification (preferred).


• Experience leading audit teams and engaging with regulators and senior stakeholders.
