Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Inspector – Civil / Marine Works to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting and monitoring all civil and marine construction activities, including coastal, waterfront, and associated infrastructure works, and coordinating closely with the construction team. You will work with Surveyors, Inspectors, and AREs / Material Engineers and report to the ARE / RE throughout the project, with particular focus on road, coastal, marine, and infrastructure works.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Inspect and monitor all civil and marine construction works, including but not limited to:

    • Quay walls, jetties, breakwaters, revetments, quay decks, pontoons, and marine structures

    • Dredging, reclamation, and marine ground improvement activities

    • Roads, utilities, drainage, and associated infrastructure within the marine/port/coastal zone.

  • Verify that construction works are carried out in accordance with:

    • Approved drawings

    • Method statements

    • ITPs

    • Project specifications and relevant standards.

  • Inspect formwork, reinforcement, concrete works, blockwork, structural steel, piling, and waterfront structural elements for line, level, dimensions, workmanship, and compliance.

  • Monitor marine-related activities for:

    • Temporary works (sheet piles, cofferdams, shoring, scaffolding)

    • Over‑water works, lifting operations near water, and access platforms.

  • Check setting-out for marine and coastal structures and verify levels and alignments in coordination with Surveyors.

  • Inspect marine and civil finishes, including protective coatings, marine-grade concrete, corrosion protection systems, joint details, quay fenders, bollards, ladders, and embedded items.

  • Witness and/or perform on-site inspections and field tests related to marine and civil works (e.g., concrete works at marine structures, compaction of backfill behind quay walls, pile integrity testing coordination, etc.).

  • Monitor health, safety, and environmental (HSE) aspects related to inspection activities, including work over water and vessel-based activities, and report unsafe conditions to the ARE / RE.

  • Check that the contractor’s plant, equipment, and temporary works used in marine and civil construction are suitable and approved where required.

  • Coordinate with the contractor’s site team to ensure:

    • Inspections are requested in a timely manner

    • Work is not covered up prior to inspection and approval.

  • Reject or require rectification of non-conforming works and assist in issuance and follow-up of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Site Instructions.

  • Maintain detailed records of:

    • Daily inspections

    • Site observations

    • Inspection requests (IRs)

    • Non-conformances

    • As-built verification records.

  • Review and verify that approved and traceable materials are properly incorporated into the works, and that they correspond to approved material submittals and drawings.

  • Provide input to daily, weekly, and monthly reports regarding civil and marine works progress, quality issues, and site observations.

  • Coordinate with construction, quality, and HSE teams to resolve civil and marine work-related issues and propose practical site solutions.

  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate or assigned.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Technical diploma or degree in a related field with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience on marine / coastal / port / waterfront and utilities projects.

  • Hands-on experience in inspection of ​Marine structures (quay walls, breakwaters, revetments, jetties, etc.), Civil and infrastructure works (roads, utilities, drainage, earthworks).

  • Has to have UAE experience

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Familiarity with local authority requirements and regional standards related to marine, coastal, and port works, as well as roads and utilities.

  • Experience on projects involving Ports, harbors, marinas, coastal protection, or waterfront developments.

  • Proactive approach to identifying quality issues in civil and marine works and driving timely resolution.
