Job Description - IT Assistant Manager Emiratization

Our client, a well-established organisation in Dubai, is looking to hire an Assistant Manager – IT (Business Applications) to join its IT team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, developing, implementing, and continuously improving the organisation's business applications, IT solutions, and websites. The role covers the complete application lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design through development, testing, implementation, optimisation, upgrades, support, and documentation.

The position will work closely with internal IT teams, business stakeholders, cybersecurity teams, and external technology vendors to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, maintain, and continuously enhance business applications, IT solutions, and websites across various platforms.
  • Support application upgrades, enhancements, integrations, and technology improvements.
  • Design, develop, code, debug, and maintain applications using appropriate technologies and programming languages.
  • Conduct comprehensive software testing and quality assurance throughout the application lifecycle.
  • Perform application performance tuning, optimisation, automation, usability improvements, and balancing.
  • Provide ongoing technical support, maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation for business applications.
  • Support IT projects and ensure delivery in accordance with industry standards, compliance requirements, DESC ISR, ISO standards, and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with the IT Security team to identify and resolve application and system vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for business applications, databases, systems, configurations, and processes.
  • Work closely with other IT teams to ensure seamless operation and integration of technology systems.
  • Support IT procurement and purchasing activities and maintain relevant departmental documentation.
  • Implement and monitor regular backup procedures and ensure effective data restoration when required.
  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to new employees and conduct refresher training following application upgrades.
  • Coordinate with vendors regarding solution delivery, technical support, contracts, maintenance, and service management.
  • Provide application and IT support to subsidiaries and remote offices when required.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Line Manager or Department Head.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in a similar IT, business applications, systems, or software development role.
  • Strong understanding of software development and application lifecycle management.
  • Good understanding of cybersecurity principles.
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Understanding of network management, system administration, and cloud computing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Skills & Certifications

  • Relevant technical certification such as ITIL, Azure Fundamentals, AWS Cloud Practitioner, DevOps Associate, Linux Essentials, or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of software development, database management, operating systems, and IT support.
  • Intermediate knowledge of:
    • Network Management
    • System Administration
    • Cloud Computing
    • Cybersecurity
    • UI/UX
    • Virtualisation
  • Basic understanding of IT governance.
  • Basic understanding of ERP and Document Management Systems (DMS).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in vendor coordination and technology service management is an advantage.
