Junior Power BI Developer

The purpose of this role is to support the Business Intelligence and Analytics team by designing, developing, and maintaining interactive dashboards and reports. The role is suited for a professional with 3–4 years of experience in Power BI or other reporting/visualization tools, along with solid SQL and database skills. The position will contribute to translating complex business data into actionable insights, optimizing reporting processes, and supporting informed decision-making across the organization, while also providing opportunities to further enhance analytical and technical expertise.
 

STRATEGIC:

Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and datasets.

Connect to various data sources such as SQL Server, Excel, SharePoint, APIs, and cloud databases.

Perform data cleaning, transformation, and shaping using Power Query (M language).

Build efficient data models using star schema, relationships, and calculated tables.Write DAX measures and calculated columns for business logic and KPIs.

Optimize report performance (model size, query folding, visual optimization).

Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into BI solutions.

Publish reports to Power BI Service, manage workspaces, and configure scheduled refreshes.Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and access controls.

Troubleshoot data issues and ensure data accuracy and consistency.Document data flows, report logic, and development processes.

OPERATIONAL:

1) Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI reports, dashboards, and datasets

2) Transform and model raw data using Power Query (M) and DAX to support business metrics and KPIs

3) Optimize Power BI datasets and reports for performance and usability

4) Implement row-level security (RLS) and govern access to sensitive information

5) Automate report publishing, refresh schedules, and manage workspaces using Power BI Service and Power BI Gateways

6) Participate in data quality validation and ensure reporting accuracy across sources

PRODUCT / PROCESS IMPROVEMENT:

1) Identify and implement enhancements to existing Power BI dashboards to improve usability, performance, and business impact

2) Streamline data integration workflows from Azure and AWS to reduce latency and improve report refresh efficiency

3) Collaborate with stakeholders to refine KPIs and metrics, ensuring reports align with evolving business goals and decision-making needs

EDUCATION:

Minimum: A Bachelor's degree in CS/IT

Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science/IT

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum:  1 to 4+ years of experience building reports and dashboards in Power BI

Preferred: 3-4 years of experience building reports and dashboards in Power BI. 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL:

Strong knowledge of Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service. Very good understanding of data modeling concepts (fact/dimension tables, star schema). Experience with Power Query for ETL transformations. Ability to write intermediate DAX expressions. Proficiency in SQL (joins, aggregations, filtering, stored procedures).Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Good communication skills and ability to work with cross‑functional teams.
