Junior Risk Engineer / Risk Assessment Surveyor (Insurance)

Job Overview

We are looking for a Risk Engineer to conduct field visits and risk assessment surveys across industrial sites in the UAE and the wider Middle East.

The role will involve identifying fire, natural catastrophe, property damage, and business interruption exposures, assessing associated risks, communicating findings to the Underwriting team, and providing practical recommendations to improve risk management at customer locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site loss prevention and risk assessment surveys at industrial and commercial locations.
  
• Identify and evaluate foreseeable physical and human-element hazards, including fire and natural catastrophe exposures.
  
• Organize and schedule risk assessment and loss prevention surveys.
  
• Assess and quantify potential property damage and business interruption exposures.
  
• Conduct on-site testing and review existing maintenance, inspection, and testing procedures.
  
• Discuss identified hazards and potential business impacts with customers and site management.
  
• Develop practical and cost-effective risk improvement recommendations, particularly relating to human-element controls and low-cost physical improvements.
  
• Follow up with customers to support the implementation of agreed risk improvement measures.
  
• Review changes, modifications, and proposed projects to ensure loss prevention requirements are incorporated at the design stage.
  
• Prepare accurate and detailed Loss Prevention Reports, clearly communicating site exposures, findings, and recommendations.
  
• Liaise with the Underwriting team and provide technical risk information to support underwriting decisions.
  
• Keep up to date with the latest loss prevention technologies, standards, and industry practices.
  
• Travel to customer sites across the UAE and, where required, other locations within the Middle East.
  

Qualifications & Requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  
• 2–3 years of UAE experience in risk engineering, loss prevention, risk assessment, insurance engineering, or a related field.
  
• Proven experience conducting industrial/site risk surveys and inspections.
  
• Strong ability to identify hazards, assess exposures, quantify potential risks, and recommend practical improvements.
  
• Good knowledge of NFPA and/or FM Global loss prevention standards.
  
• Formal loss prevention training or exposure to FM, IRI, Kemper, or similar standards is desirable.
  
• Strong understanding of fire protection, property damage, business interruption, and industrial risk exposures.
  
• Good report-writing, communication, and client-facing skills.
  
• Ability to work independently and conduct frequent field visits.
  
• Valid UAE Driving Licence is mandatory.
