Lab Instructor- Education ( Early Childhood Education)

Job Objective

The Education Lab Instructor will play a vital role in facilitating practical and innovative learning experiences for pre-service teachers. They will be responsible for guiding students through hands-on activities, experiments, and projects designed to foster critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity.

Main Responsibilities

Strategic Role

• Contribute to the implementation of HCT’s system-wide strategy.
• Assist with the development and preservation of system-wide and Faculty/Division-specific policies. Participate in the academic and extra-curricular events at the College and within the community. 
• Engage in applied research relevant to the Division’s interest and the national innovation agenda and its targeted priority sectors

Operational Role

Teaching

• Plan and execute interactive lessons that promote active participation and engagement among students while utilizing a variety of teaching methodologies to cater to diverse learning styles. 
• Ensure that lesson plans align with the main course instructor’s plans and timelines while also incorporating innovative approaches and technologies. 
• Conduct demonstrations and experiments to illustrate key concepts and principles across various courses. 
• Provide one-on-one assistance and guidance to students as they work on projects and assignments and offer constructive feedback to help them overcome challenges and achieve learning goals. 
• Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to exploration and discovery and implement effective classroom management strategies to promote respect, collaboration, and teamwork among students. 
• Assess student progress through observation, discussions, and performance-based assessments as well as keeping detailed records of student achievements and areas for improvement to be shared with course instructors. 
• Stay current with trends and best practices in education and participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge Observe and reinforce health, safety and housekeeping procedures within the laboratory. Organize and maintain equipment and propose equipment orders as needed.
• Develop and utilize educational technology resources for effective instruction. 
• Develop and implement learning centers within the lab. 
• Support the Division in college-based activities (competitions, school visits, exhibitions, etc.) as requested by the Division Chair. 
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor, Master’s Degree and a professional certification relevant to the discipline with 5 years of teaching and industry experience.
• Appropriate academic professional qualifications as required.

Experience

• Prior experience in teaching or facilitating educational programs in a laboratory or hands-on learning environment. 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners. 
• Passion for education and a commitment to inspiring curiosity and lifelong learning. 
• Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills.
