Job Description - Mechanical Design Manager

Mechanical Design Manager

Mechanical Design Manager is part of Arada's in house design team. The Manager will have indispensable role in the design process.

The main responsibilities will be as follows:

-Design and create solutions for mechanical system in Arada's projects

-Manage mechanical designs including all inputs, coordination and deliverables to achieve the time, cost and quality objectives in accordance with company policy, procedures and the Design Management Plan.

-Develop and implement mechanical Engineering solutions, standards, guidelines and controls covering all mechanical disciplines so that all relevant procedural requirements are fulfilled for delivering quality mechanical solutions.

-Assist in procurement of mechanical Design consultants

-Develop the mechanical Project design briefs (concept) & scope of works and maintain them by regular review.

-Ensure all the applied systems meet the highest quality, safety and environmental standards.

-Attend regular meetings (offsite / onsite, on work progress, coordination, design, etc.) to give guidance on key issues related to the project and take effective corrective actions.

-Check and approve the compatibility of the mechanical drawings and designs and ensure resolving any inconsistencies in coordination with the relevant parties.

-Oversee and guide consultants design progress activities. Monitor and verify design progress and submittals at all design phases.

-Advise the project/design manager on all matters pertaining to cost scope and schedule with regards to design developments.

-Maintain and update information on the latest technology for the mechanical systems and ensure it is reflected on the design as required.

-Come up with sustainable approach for signature projects

-Built mechanical team for producing mechanical drawings if necessary

-Apply value engineering approach wherever possible to reduce costs, improve quality and increase productivity. This involves the analysis of the functions of a proposed project, system, equipment, product, and services to improve reliability, performance, safety, quality and lifecycle costs.

-Ensure that the design intent and design performance criteria are maintained through the design development and construction process.

-Coordinate with Architectural, Structural, infrastructure, Interior, Facility Management, and other teams for the proper concept design

-Manage the process of the authority design approvals. Liaise with all the local authorities to ensure that all works are in-line with their standards and regulations as well as ensure coordination with the local authorities for all required approvals and certifications

-Prepare tender strategy; identify qualified consultants, contractors and vendors; prepare and issue RFPs; evaluate proposals; negotiate contract terms/deliverables/payment schedules; and issue recommendation to the client.

-Review and evaluate all bidders' offers, bill of quantities, project timeline, inclusions, exclusions, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

-Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Master's degree preferred

-Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical design and project management, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex real estate development projects.

-Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team of engineers and designers.

-In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices, with expertise in HVAC systems design, plumbing systems, and fire protection systems.

-Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and/or SolidWorks, as well as familiarity with building information modeling (BIM) platforms.

-Proven experience in project management, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and budgetary constraints.
