Palliative Care Consultant

As a Palliative Care Consultant, you will provide expert consultation and support to patients, families, and healthcare teams, focusing on pain management, symptom relief, and emotional support. You will work closely with patients to understand their goals of care and ensure that their wishes are respected throughout their treatment journey.

You will lead interdisciplinary meetings, facilitating effective communication among team members while serving as an advocate for patients’ needs. Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients requiring palliative care and develop personalized care plans.

- Manage and alleviate pain and other distressing symptoms effectively.

- Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families throughout the illness continuum.

- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and ensure communication across care settings.

- Engage in advanced care planning discussions and support informed decision-making.

- Educate healthcare staff, patients, and families about palliative care practices and the importance of symptom management.

- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to research efforts in palliative care.

Qualifications:

- Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with an active medical license.

- Board certification in Palliative Care or Hospice Medicine.

- A minimum of 5 years of experience in palliative or hospice care settings.

- Strong knowledge of pain management and palliative medicine principles.

- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach.

- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
