Job Description - Product Design and Automation Engineer - Emergency Lighting Luminaires

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Product Design and Automation Engineer specializing in Emergency lighting luminaires. The ideal candidate will focus on Design for Manufacturing (DFM), sustainability, and automation in production to achieve cost-effective products with a low CO2 footprint.

 

What you’ll do:

 

Design for Manufacturing (DFM):
Specify, develop and optimize designs to ensure ease of manufacturing and assembly
Collaborate with development and manufacturing teams to identify and resolve production issues
Implement design changes to improve product quality and reduce manufacturing costs

 

Sustainability:
Integrate sustainable practices into product design, focusing on energy efficiency and minimal environmental impact.
Evaluate and select materials and components that reduce the overall CO2 footprint.
Promote the use of renewable energy sources and recyclable materials in product development.

 

Automation in Production:

  • Specify, design and implement automated systems and processes to enhance production efficiency.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware and firmware for automated solutions.
  • Continuously improve automation processes to reduce production time and costs.

 

Cost Optimization:

  • Analyze and optimize product designs to achieve the best cost-performance ratio.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses to identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to minimize waste and improve efficiency.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electronics/electrical/electromechanical engineering or equivalent  
  • 10+ years of experience in a related field.

 

Skills:

  • Proven experience in product design and automation, preferably in the lighting industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
  • Experience with sustainable design practices and materials.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and automation tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
