Job Description - Production Engineer - Automotive
Roles and Responsibilities
Optimize manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and reduce production costs within automobile assembly lines, focusing on cycle time reduction and waste elimination.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to production equipment, including robotics, PLCs, and automated systems, ensuring minimal downtime.
Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, such as Kaizen events and Six Sigma projects, to drive operational excellence.
Develop and maintain detailed production schedules and capacity plans, considering factors like material availability, labor resources, and equipment capabilities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, quality, and maintenance, to ensure seamless integration of new products and processes.
Conduct thorough root cause analysis of production defects and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence, improving product quality.
Oversee the implementation of new technologies and automation systems in the production environment, staying abreast of industry advancements.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards within the production facility, promoting a safe working environment.
Prepare and present regular performance reports, analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) and identifying areas for improvement.
Train and mentor production staff on new processes, equipment, and safety procedures, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
Desired Candidate Profile
Possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
Have at least 5-7 years of experience in production engineering within the automotive industry, demonstrating a strong understanding of automotive manufacturing processes.
Demonstrate a proven track record of implementing lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Exhibit proficiency in using CAD software, simulation tools, and other engineering software relevant to automotive production.
Possess strong knowledge of automotive assembly processes, including stamping, welding, painting, and final assembly.
Be familiar with quality control systems and methodologies, such as Six Sigma and statistical process control (SPC).
Have excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Demonstrate strong leadership qualities, with the ability to motivate and guide production teams.
Be proficient in English (written and spoken); knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
Show a proactive and results-oriented approach, with a strong commitment to achieving production targets and deadlines.
