Qa/Qc Inspector I

JOB Summary 

• Responsible for ensuring quality and compliance across the fabrication, assembly, inspection, and repair of Top Drive, Catwalk, Casing Drive, and other drilling equipment and related systems.
• Performs welding inspections, reviews WPS documentation, coordinates with vendors, and prepares technical and quality reports.
• Supports API Q1 audits, root cause investigations, corrective actions, supplier quality activities, and continuous process improvement initiatives.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES AND AUTHORITIES

• Quality Planning: Support the implementation of quality plans, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and applicable quality requirements in coordination with relevant departments.

• Inspection & Testing: Conduct receiving, in-process, and final inspections for Top Drive, Catwalk, Casing Drive Systems, and other drilling equipment. Witness Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, procedures, and inspection requirements.

• Vendor & Subcontractor Quality: Perform inspections at vendor and subcontractor facilities as assigned and support supplier evaluations, audits, qualification, and quality improvement activities.

• Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and maintain inspection reports, Inspection Release Notes (IRN), data book documentation, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR). Support root cause investigations and corrective action activities related to quality issues.

• Aftermarket & Operations Support: Provide QA/QC support for equipment repair, servicing, refurbishment, and field-related quality activities, including verification of materials and inspection requirements.

• Calibration Control: Verify that measuring and inspection equipment used for inspection activities is suitable, calibrated, and within its valid calibration period.

• Deviation Coordination: Identify and report deviations from approved drawings, specifications, and requirements, and coordinate with Quality and Engineering for review and disposition through the applicable deviation or VTQ process.

• Welding Inspection & WPS Review: Review applicable WPS, PQR, and welding documentation and verify that welding activities are performed in accordance with approved procedures, drawings, specifications, and applicable codes. Conduct visual welding inspections and verify applicable NDT requirements.

• Audit Support: Support internal, customer, supplier, and API Q1 audit preparation by verifying inspection records, quality documentation, and compliance with applicable procedures and requirements.

• QMS Compliance: Perform duties in accordance with company policies, procedures, applicable standards, API Q1 requirements, and established quality objectives.

• Inspection Authority: Exercise authority within the assigned inspection scope to accept or reject inspected work based on approved requirements, raise NCRs where necessary, and escalate unresolved quality issues to the appropriate Quality or Engineering personnel. The employee is accountable for the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of their work, as well as for reporting any non-conformities or risks that may impact quality, legal compliance, safety, environment, or customer satisfaction
• The employee is responsible for performing duties in accordance with the company’s policies, procedures, and quality objectives
• The employee has the necessary authority to make decisions within their scope of work and escalate issues as needed and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure operational effectiveness.
• The employee is accountable for the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of their work, as well as for reporting any nonconformities or risks that may impact quality, legal compliances, safety, environment, or customer satisfaction.
• Support and participate on achieving organizational QHSE objectives.

Minimum Qualifications / SKILLS 

• Diploma or degree in relevant technical or engineering discipline

• Relevant QA/QC inspection experience in manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, or repair

• Good knowledge of engineering drawings, inspection methods, quality documentation, and applicable industry standards

Preferred Qualifications 

• Certification in welding inspection, NDT, or other relevant QA/QC disciplines

• Experience with API Q1, ISO 9001, or other applicable quality management standards

• Previous experience in oilfield, drilling, or heavy equipment manufacturing/repair

• Able to work in workshop and field environments

• Physically able to perform routine inspections and wear required PPE

• Flexible for site visits and travel when required
