The role ensures accurate test data capture, system integrity, and continuous improvement of remote sensing capabilities.

Key Accountabilities:

Test Planning & Design

  • Collaborate with test specialists and clients to establish optimum instrumentation for tests requiring radars, electro-optical trackers, and telemetry.

  • Define and validate setups for flight termination systems in air tests.

  • Develop detailed equipment location plans to ensure complete and accurate data capture.

  • Ensure remote sensing integration across all test phases (planning, execution, reporting).

  • Develop sensor coverage maps to optimize line-of-sight and minimize data loss.

Execution & Oversight

  • Produce detailed test procedures for technicians to follow during data capture.

  • Supervise instrumentation technicians during test execution to ensure required data is collected.

  • Lead test engineers and technicians in developing test reports, formatting captured data for inclusion.

  • Oversee real-time monitoring of radar, EO, and telemetry feeds during tests to ensure system performance and data integrity.

  • Coordinate remote sensing resources during simultaneous or multi-domain test campaigns.

Equipment & Remote Sensing Systems Management

  • Ensure all remote sensing equipment is calibrated, maintained, and operated per Range documentation.

  • Conduct system validation and end-to-end checks of radar, telemetry, and EO tracking prior to tests.

  • Manage data acquisition systems, ensuring compatibility with radars, EO trackers, and telemetry systems.

  • Establish data quality standards for signal reception, telemetry decoding, and radar/EO imagery.

  • Monitor technology trends to optimize equipment use and recommend new acquisitions as needed.

  • Develop redundancy and contingency plans for remote sensing system failures during tests.

Leadership & Development

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers and technicians during test activities.

  • Partner with the Engineering Manager to develop skillsets of remote sensing teams, particularly in radar, EO systems, telemetry, and FTS.

  • Develop and deliver training programs for technicians on radar operations, EO tracking, and telemetry data handling.

  • Contribute to documentation updates, SOPs, and technical manuals related to remote sensing systems.

Experience & Qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, Systems Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

  • 8+ years of experience in radar systems, telemetry, and test instrumentation, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

  • Strong expertise in tracking radars, electro-optical systems, telemetry systems, and flight termination systems.

  • Proven ability to design test setups, procedures, and data capture strategies in complex test environments.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and client-facing collaboration skills.

  • Knowledge of equipment calibration, maintenance, and system lifecycle management.

Key Competencies

  • Technical excellence in radar and telemetry systems.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams under high-pressure test conditions.
