Job Description - Secondary Music and Band Teacher

    Qualifications for Music Teacher:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of music curriculum and the ability to implement it
  • Ability to interact collaboratively with students, parents, and administration
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Confident in leading a classroom of students
  • Able to pass a drug test, fingerprints, and local background check
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Able to lift 25-50 pounds multiple times a day

    Job Overview:

    North American International School is searching for a capable and trustworthy music and band teacher to join our team of educators. Employee responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing engaging music education lessons, continuing the development of our band program, collaborating with teachers, and providing music education to secondary students as well as specific instruction in instrumental development. Potential candidates should be able to teach students from varied cultural backgrounds and be able to create lessons that adapt to various levels of learning within the classroom. 

    Responsibilities for Music Teacher:

  • Plan and prepare lessons about individual students' needs and examination syllabuses.
  • Teach music theory, aural skills, and practical techniques to pupils entering and preparing pupils for examinations.
  • Acquire appropriate teaching materials and resources including coordination of instrument rentals.
  • Motivate pupils and encourage progress.
  • Create and maintain a network of contacts to ensure work continuity.
  • Communicate with academic staff and parents.
  • Ensure up-to-date knowledge and awareness of examination requirements.
  • Assess pupils' abilities, providing feedback and writing reports.
