Job Description - Senior Consultant

Role Purpose

Control Risks is looking for an exceptional Business and Human Rights (BHR) Senior Consultant to join our market-leading BHR practice.

The successful candidate will be an integral member of the BHR team, working across a range of labour rights projects, human rights assessments (HRA) and security and human rights projects. You will be a highly experienced worker welfare/labour rights specialist, with a successful track record of conducting various forms of workplace assessments, accommodation audits and interviews with rightsholders. You must be able to communicate in at least one of the main South Asian languages as well as being fluent in English. Other South Asian languages and Arabic would be an advantage. You have a good working knowledge of key BHR principles and be able to apply them in a range of complex and demanding settings in this fast-paced and dynamic practice.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Managing complex business and human rights projects across the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
  • Conducting worker welfare monitoring activities, including employment practice audits and labour accommodation inspections.
  • Drafting proposals and reports and delivering content to clients in person.
  • Creating framework scoring sheets and data dashboards.
  • Conducting site visits and developing trusted advisor relationships with clients.
  • Supporting team business development efforts.
  • Developing proposals, preparing budgets, and creating tailored capability statements and case studies.
  • Advising on a BHR matters in challenging locations
  • Supporting human rights assessments and supply chain due diligence projects
  • A good academic record in a relevant discipline or practical skills demonstrated in another environment (e.g. Military or other institutional setting)
  • Significant, recent and relevant practical work experience in labour rights, HRAs and security and human rights
  • An ability to speak languages commonly used in South Asia or the Middle East
  • Ability and willingness to travel across the Middle East region for project delivery
