Job Summary.
Working within the Engineering team (Dubai, Paris and UK) you will develop the concept design for upgrade and new build projects and prepare all drawings for construction as required for both internal and external Process Systems customers. As a Senior Design Draughtsman - Mechanical, you will be required to produce accurate and detailed design drawings as well as to communicate effectively with suppliers, manufacturers, and clients, oversee manufacturing processes and trial assemblies and supervise the local workforce, in onshore locations, to ensure high-quality and safe installations of new equipment.
Key to this role will be your attention to detail, communication skills, both spoken and written and the ability to work effectively with other team members worldwide.
An appreciation of the commercial implications of engineering decision-making, with a keen focus on delivery and a proactive approach throughout the project, is critical to your success in this role.
You will be keen to take on fresh challenges, develop your technical and interpersonal skills as well as expand your knowledge and experience through a variety of projects.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Worldwide internals jobs to be designed/detailed with 3 different teams (Dubai/Paris & Frimley UK) Shall have good knowledge and understanding of pressure vessels, piping and structural designing and drafting. Familiar with ASME and ASTM Codes and standards. Have strong experience in sheet metal modelling, detailing and fabrication techniques. Assist in the costing of design/detailing at tender preparation. Design in 3D using Solidworks CAD software and create detailed drawings to allow the manufacture of any product required. Generate and maintain Schematic drawings using AutoCAD software. Ensure document/design control. Liaise with other members of the team and supply information relevant to the project at hand. Check the accuracy and detail of design drawings, created both in-house and externally, for manufacturing. Liaise with external fabricators and suppliers to solve problems that may arise during the manufacture. Visit fabricators during the manufacturing period to ensure compliance with design and quality standards. Conduct Trial Assemblies at the fabricator's premises and liaise with 3rd party inspectors and/or clients overseeing final inspection. Create data manuals for issue to clients. Create installation manuals to advise clients for new equipment installation. Attend client meetings to present new designs. Assist in the costing of design/detailing at tender preparation. Ensure a high standard of professionalism is maintained when representing NOV. Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the work area and department. Ensure personal compliance with all HSE legislation and HSE Company policy. Be fully familiar and fully conversant with department and company policies, procedures, and processes, ensuring all work and actions undertaken are in full compliance at all times. Support other departments and carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by the line manager. Occasional travel as and when required. Essential:
Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) – Mechanical - Preferred 7-10 years of Industry experience An apprenticeship in an Engineering/Fabrication environment with hands-on experience Proficient in Solidworks and AutoCAD Good understanding of fabricated stainless-steel parts/structure Knowledge of Pressure and Piping in Oil & Gas Industry Relevant experience in a similar role in the Oiland Gas industry Experienced in use of 2D and 3D CAD Systems
