Senior Project Engineer (ELV & Home Automation)

Job Summary:

The Audio Visual (AV) & Home Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining sophisticated AV and home automation systems. This role involves working with clients to customize solutions that integrate various technologies for seamless control of lighting, audio, video, security, and other home automation systems. The engineer will ensure high-quality installations, provide technical support, and stay updated with the latest trends in AV and home automation technology.

Key Responsibilities:

System Design and Integration:

Design comprehensive AV and home automation systems tailored to client needs and specifications.

Integrate various technologies, including lighting, audio, video, climate control, and security systems, into a cohesive home automation solution.

Create detailed schematics and plans for installations.

Design automation systems using ABB products, including PLCs, DCS, HMI, and SCADA systems.

Implement automation solutions, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.

Technical Skills:

• Install and configure AV and home automation systems, including wiring, equipment setup, and programming.
• Ensure all components work seamlessly together and meet client expectations.
• Conduct thorough testing and quality assurance checks.
• Program ABB PLCs, DCS, and other automation controllers
• Configure HMI and SCADA systems for effective monitoring and control
• Configure Video conferencing systems like Cisco, Logitech, Yalink, Polycom, Crestron, Extron.
• Perform system testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Provide ongoing support and maintenance for installed systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly to ensure uninterrupted service.
• Perform regular system updates and upgrades as necessary.

Interpersonal Skills:

Work closely with clients to understand their requirements and preferences.

Provide personalized training sessions to clients on using their AV and home automation systems.

Offer technical support and guidance as needed.

Manage projects from initial consultation to final installation and handover.

Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and other team members to ensure project timelines and budgets are met.

Maintain detailed documentation of projects, including system configurations and client interactions.

Technology and Trend Awareness:

Stay informed about the latest advancements in AV and home automation technology.

Recommend new products and solutions to clients based on emerging trends and innovations.

Participate in industry events and training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.

Education Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Audio Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
• UAE/GCC Driving license holder

Preferred Qualifications:

• Industry certifications such as CTS (Certified Technology Specialist), CEDIA Certification, Crestron Certified Programmer, or equivalent.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Visio, or other design and planning software.
• Familiarity with smart home devices and IoT (Internet of Things) technologies.

Experience:

Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in designing and installing AV and home automation systems.

Proven track record of successful project management and client satisfaction.

Skills:

In-depth knowledge of AV systems, home automation technologies, and integration techniques.

Proficient in programming home automation platforms (e.g., Crestron, Control4, Savant, Lutron).

Strong technical skills in networking, IT infrastructure, and system troubleshooting.

Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Working Conditions:

Ability to lift and move heavy equipment as necessary.

Ability work in construction sites.

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call hours as required, particularly for client installations and support.

Willingness to travel to client sites and various project locations.
