Job Description - Senior Specialist, Partnership & Strategy


JOB PURPOSE:


To provide technical expertise and support to the Manager, Technology Portfolio Management & Strategy. Lead  the ADNOC Upstream Technology & Innovation strategy development including innovation portfolio management, new technology introduction (NTI) process, external technology partnerships, and strategic marketing. Ensure all ADNOC innovation strategic goals and objectives are effectively and efficiently managed, innovation financials are monitored, external technology programs are aligned to strategy and managed, identify new opportunities for growth through strategic marketing, and maximize the return on our innovation investment.


 


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES


Job Specific Accountabilities



  • Review, prioritize and advise the leadership of the Upstream Technology & Innovation center on the strategic goals and objectives of science and technology, and the quality and future direction of the company’s research and development programs.

  • Lead the development and implementation of the Upstream Technology & Innovation strategy in coordination with all relevant stakeholders.

  • Continuously monitor and manage the internal and external partnership portfolio and pipeline to ensure alignment with Business and Group strategies.

  • Review and maintain the company’s technology strategy and roadmap, including emerging technologies and changing requirements aligned with Business and Group innovation strategies and recommend changes, as needed.

  • Monitor and manage the health of our external technology strategy and partnerships and ensure that ADNOC’s external investments are creating value and developing talent.

  • Effectively communicate and market ADNOC’s innovation capability and portfolio externally to position ADNOC as a thought-leader in science and technology especially in AI and emerging technologies.

  • Identify new opportunities to create additional value through product differentiation or creating new competitive advantages through strategic marketing and mapping of our technologies.



  • Deliver monthly and quarterly innovation portfolio consolidations including partnership reports, external technology reports, emerging technology trends, and strategic marketing reports.

  • Prepare ad hoc reporting and analyses for key metrics and special projects.

  • Prepare summaries of innovation progress and highlights



  • Regularly report to the leadership on the health of ADNOC’s innovation portfolio and return on investment.

  • Assist in preparation of presentations, reports, and documents, gather information, and provide ad-hoc administrative support when requested.

  • Perform, manage or advise on partnership and strategy matters as required in assessing the potential for the different opportunities within the portfolio.

  • Project quality control/peer review of projects in the technology portfolio where needed.


Generic Accountabilities


Supervision



  • Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.

  • Train and develop and/or recommend knowledge transfer opportunities for the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.


Budgets



  • Provide input for preparation of the Project’s budgets, assist in the implementation of the approved Budget, and work plans to deliver objectives.

  • Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.


Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures



  • Implement approved Function/Division/Department/Section policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the work programs in line with Company and International standards. Devise or recommend new policies or guidelines to establish efficiencies and to be on par with international standards for Geothermal Projects.


Performance Management



  • Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Function/Division/Department/ Section in line with the Company Performance framework.


Innovation and Continuous Improvement



  • Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.

  • Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with best industry standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the Project.


Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability



  • Comply and ensure appropriate measures are taken for the Project in line with relevant HSE policies, procedures, controls, applicable legislation, and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.

  • Provide input for International HSE Policies applied to Geothermal projects.


Reports



  • Provide inputs to prepare Function/Division/Department/Section MIS and progress reports when requested to the Project Manager and/or Team Leader.


 


 


COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:


Internal



  • Daily with staff within the Division, Function and Directorate regarding IP matters.



  • Frequent contacts with staff from Group Companies on IP generation potential.


External



  • Frequent contacts with consultants and contractors on projects carried out for ADNOC and with vendors.


QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: 


Minimum Qualification



  • Bachelor Degree in management or equivalent. Master’s degree is preferred.


Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills



  • Have 10+ years of professional experience in stakeholder management in a large organization.

  • Have 5+ years of professional experience in a strategy role in the energy industry.



  • Possesses excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.

  • Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency but also a strong team player who can work closely and productively with other disciplines.


Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
