Senior Technician, Telecom (Maintenance) (NS)

JOB PURPOSE: Ensures proper and efficient provision of a wide variety of voice & data services to various users on Das Island and Das Community as a whole. Supervises and carries out all installation, maintenance, repair, commissioning and operational activities of all related voice & data services systems and equipment on Das Island. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Job Specific Accountabilities

• Supervises and carries out all installation, maintenance, commissioning and operational activities of the telephone & data networks & facilities serving various users on Das Island including internet services, telephone exchanges, modems, switches, hubs, routers, facsimile machines, emergency telephones, emergency monitoring & recording equipment, fibre optic cables & optical equipment, external line plant network, MPLS backbone link to WTC-HQ and PCM transmission links to offshore complexes and ADNOC LNG Das Office.
• The systems includes NEC digital/analog telephone exchange "PABX" IP telephony enabled, digital trunk lines to WTC- HQ and offshore complexes, local area network serving over PC's and line printers, Outside Plant Works & Underground cable distribution network, fire alarm & siren, and telephone cable network.
• Carries out maintenance/testing/setting of all data communication equipment, modems, switches, routers, hubs and facsimile machines. Terminates & measures data circuits including fibre optics cables using different techniques such as splicing and OTDR.
• Prepares and participates the implementation of planned maintenance program and ADNOC work requests of all systems and equipment installed on Das Island.
• Carries out maintenance and repair work of the external telephone line plant and data networks including the main and intermediate distribution frames.
• Receives maintenance / services requests from various users including ADNOC LNG and Etisalat and takes appropriate actions.
• Ensures operability & functionality of the emergency control centers telephony including the fire control room, Incident Command Center (ICC), Center Control Room (CCR) and the direct lines to WTC HQ, the offshore super complexes, Zirku Island, etc.
• Ensures operability & functionality of the cables detected for the fire & supervisory alarm signals and emergency evacuation sirens. Liaises with HSE Fire services team and Fire & Gas Section for Weekly tests & rectifies problems / defects.
• Prepares work permits and signs other teams/sections work permits involving all excavation works on Das Island.
• Update database records, fault clearance and reports progress/completion of work. Prepares as built drawings of the Telecomms cable distribution network as required.
• Maintains adequate stock of spare parts at the workshop and replenishes as required. Prepares work and material requests. Carries out work related technical surveys & investigations and write technical reports & memos as required.
• Ensures strict compliance to ADNOC Offshore Safety Regulation and Procedures. Implements the company HSE Management System Programs & Objectives. Ensures safe Operations of the telecommunication facilities by applying Company standards, practices and codes of conduct.
• Follows written procedures on critical tasks and activities. Promote HSE awareness and importance of near miss reporting among his sub-Ordinates.
• Works in line with HSE policy, and ensure awareness and compliance of HSE rules and regulations by subordinates.

• Diploma in relevant Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering or Equivalent.
• Communication skills, Planning skill and analytical ability.
• Proficient in English (Read, write & Speaking).

• 5-6 years' work experience in repair & maintenance on modern technology of telecommunications equipment / systems

• Diploma in relevant Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering or Equivalent.
