Summary

As a Skilled Technician (Carpentry & Painting) at Banyan Tree Dubai is responsible for carrying out a wide range of maintenance, repair, installation, painting, and polishing tasks throughout the resort. This includes carpentry work on wooden structures, furniture, and fixtures, as well as applying paint, varnish, stains, and finishes to walls, doors, furniture, and other surfaces. The role ensures that the resort’s facilities maintain high standards of safety, functionality, and aesthetics. Working closely with the engineering team, the technician responds to maintenance requests, performs preventive maintenance, and helps maintain a visually appealing and comfortable environment that enhances the overall guest experience

Responsibilities

• Perform installation of wooden structures, furniture, doors, windows, cabinets, and other fixtures throughout the resort.
•  Measure, cut, and shape wood, using appropriate tools and techniques, to meet specific design and functional requirements.
• Work on custom carpentry projects as required, including the design and fabrication of special wooden items or furniture.
• Carry out repairs and maintenance on existing wooden structures and furniture, ensuring all items are functional, safe, and aesthetically appealing.
•  Repair or replace broken or damaged woodwork such as doors, windows, frames, furniture, and floorboards.
•  Refinish wood surfaces, sand, stain, and seal wooden furniture to restore them to their original condition.
• Conduct regular inspections of wooden structures and furniture to identify wear and tear or potential issues.
•  Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the longevity of wood fixtures and prevent major repairs or replacements.
•  Perform painting tasks on walls, ceilings, doors, windows, and other surfaces as required, ensuring a high-quality finish.
•  Apply varnishes, stains, and other finishes to wooden furniture, doors, trim, and other items to restore or enhance their appearance.
• Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, filling holes, and applying primers as needed.
• Chooses appropriate paints, stains, and finishes for various surfaces, ensuring that all materials meet hotel standards.
•  Polish and maintain the appearance of metal, wood, and other surfaces, ensuring they are free of scratches and maintain a smooth, high-gloss finish.
•  Perform touch-ups and minor repairs to painted and polished surfaces to maintain their condition and appearance.
• Regularly inspect and touch up painted surfaces throughout the hotel to ensure that the aesthetic quality remains at its best

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical certification in carpentry or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in carpentry, preferably in a hospitality or facilities maintenance environment.
• Extensive knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, tools, and safety procedures.
• Ability to work with wood, laminate, veneers, and other materials commonly used in furniture and construction
• Proven experience (2-3 years) as a Painter/Polisher, ideally within a hospitality or facilities management setting.
• Good knowledge of different types of paints, varnishes, stains, and finishes, as well as the tools and techniques used to apply them.
• Ability to perform surface preparation (e.g., cleaning, sanding) and apply coatings to a variety of surfaces.
•  Strong attention to detail with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
• Good physical stamina and the ability to work on ladders or scaffolding when require
