Job Description - Sr. Editor

JOB PURPOSE:

  • Develops and maintains company story narrative.
  • Develops and writes content in English and Arabic.
  • Translates text from English to Arabic and from Arabic to English.
  • Contextualizes and executes written content into the regional MEAE context.
  • Reviews and updates corporate writing standards regularly against industrial benchmarks.
  • Acts as key point for contact with MEA based media specific Arabic writing media.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Job Specific Accountabilities

  • Operates as the day-to-day point of contact for employees in the region EMEA w.r.t. content development and translations.
  • Develops and maintains company story narrative as basis for all communication from Borouge to its stakeholders.
  • Initiates and develops storylines for content addressing company's interest.
  • Writes content in English and Arabic to address company messages towards a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develops company messaging network with relevant content in both English and Arabic.
  • Develops and writes speeches for Borouge leadership in English and Arabic.
  • Discusses speech content with Borouge leadership and makes relevant corrections to deliver a final version.
  • Coordinates relevant delivery of speech text aligned to company and speaker's requirements.
  • Translates text from English to Arabic and from Arabic to English.
  • Checks text and/or translations on correct use of English and/or Arabic language.
  • Keeps record of word bank.
  • Aligns with external translators on translations and use of word bank.
  • Advices on correct use of Arabic and English words.
  • Evaluates delivery of speeches and content and advises accordingly.
  • Addresses content with media in the EMEA region and specific Arabic speaking media and is main point for contact for media.
  • Analyse media presence in EMEA region and advise accordingly.
  • Aligns with internal communications function and department members correct use of the English (UK English) language and contributes to a dedicated Borouge word bank.
  • Manages communications budget, (internal and external) resources and planning.
  • Foster relationship with professional communication suppliers, especially with copywriters, publishers and media in the MEAE region.

HSE

  • The Sr. /Specialist Copywriter-Translator leads by example to apply Borouge's health, safety and environment standards in all activities initiated and led by Global Communications and assures to develop the same attitude and behaviour amongst suppliers operating on behalf of Borouge.

Ethics and Compliance

  • The Sr. /Specialist Copywriter-Translator leads by example to apply Borouge's ethics and compliance standards in all activities initiated and led by Global Communications and assures to develop the same attitude and behaviour amongst suppliers operating on behalf of Borouge.
  • The Sr. /Specialist Copywriter-Translator reports every issue w.r.t. ethics and compliance and assures that a similar behaviour is practiced by suppliers working on behalf of Borouge.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor degree or higher in the field of communications, in Journalism, English, Arabic preferably a combination or equivalent, based on previous job-experience.

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

  • At least five years of experience in communications, marketing or other relevant areas.
  • Strong analytical mind-set to understand data.
  • Superb writing skills in English and Arabic
  • Superb translating skills English/Arabic.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Active on relevant social media channels.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills,
  • Solid understanding of project management principles.
