Staff Nurse - Endoscopy

Provides direct patient care and coordinatespatient care-related activities using the scientific process ofnursing Abides by AHD nursing standards of care andpractice

PositionResponsibility:

•Demonstrates problem solving/critical thinking skills ensuringeffective functioning of unit routine.
•Demonstrates current Endoscopy nursing knowledge with ability torecognize and apply basic pathophysiology in the diseaseprocess.
• Demonstrates competent technicalnursing skills; medications are administered safely and accordingto policies and procedures, physicians are assisted with patientexaminations and specialized procedures, proficiency isdemonstrated with IV therapy, and dressingsetc.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skillsrequired in recognizing potential emergency situations; codes andother emergency situations are managed competently. Activelyparticipates in mock codes.
• Developsindividualized care plans based on the nursing diagnosis, withupdated revisions according to evaluation and re-assessmentfindings. Activities of daily living e.g. hygiene needs areconsidered in daily care planning.
• Setspriorities and plans implementation of patient care; implementationof care is completed in a timely, organized manner and follows AHDnursing standards and policy and procedure. Activities of dailyliving e.g. hygiene needs are supported.
•Demonstrates attention to discharge planning; discharge planning isaddressed on admission, on-going and as care plans are modified.Discharge and transfer procedures are completed in a timely andcomplete manner.
• Provides accurate, completeand prompt reports on patient care conditions and response totreatment. Collaborates effectively as a multidisciplinary teammember.

• Nursing documentation isinformative, complete, accurate, concise and legible. Documentationfollows AHD and JCI standards and reflects the nursing process fromassessment through evaluation.
• Works in otherareas within the hospital when assigned, within the scope ofpractice.
• Maintains clinical and professionalcompetency based on the latest research and established standardsof practice. Completes all Core Competencies for nursing as well asapplicable Unit Specific Competencies within prescribedtimelines.
• Demonstrates awareness andknowledge of Infection Control, Pain Management and Wound Carepractices and standards. Reports and documents as directed in therelevant policies and procedures.
• Understandsthe responsibilities of safe handling, and administration ofNarcotic / Controlled Drugs and documentation as directed bypolicies and procedures.
• Demonstrates supportof leadership. Encourages team decisions, cooperation within andacross departments and assist in resolving differences ofopinion.
• Demonstrates an understanding ofcultural difference among customers and colleagues, demonstratessensitivity and tolerance to culturaldifferences.
• Involves patient, significantothers and healthcare provider in patient's plan of careand education.
• Performs special procedures(Endoscopy procedure e.g. procedural sedation, GI and Pulmonaryprocedures etc.) in accordance to procedures and guidelines,following orders and appropriate monitoring.
•Demonstrates knowledge of, and the ability to, render care based onage, appropriateness and developmental needs ofpatients.
• Demonstrates proficiency in the useof medical equipment available and in use on theunit.
• Demonstrates understanding andfamiliarity with Facility Management and Safetyplan.

PositionQualification:

•Bachelor'sdegree in nursing (minimum of three (3) years full-time courseduration) or

•Degree in Nursing (minimumtwo (2) years course duration) and Registration as a RegisteredNurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, andAustralia

•For UAE nationals graduatesof UAE or non-UAE universities are exempted from the experience andclinical training requirements for the applied title. (UAE Nationalmust submit a copy of their birth certificate and themother's family book)

•Non-UAEnational graduates from UAE universities are required tosuccessfully complete six (6) months of clinical trainingpost-graduation in an APS health facility (except for Registeredand assistant Nurse titles)

•Must hold avalid License/Registration to practice in their home country and/orcountry of last employment (whereapplicable)

•Must hold a minimum of avalid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification or others according tothe scope of practice

PROFESSIONALEXPERIENCE:

•At least two(2) years of recent post-graduate nursingexperience

•Knowledge of and ability torender care and services based on age, appropriateness anddevelopmental needs of patients

•Skillsin assessment of patient and family's physical andpsychological needs

•Skills incoordination and planning of care and prioritising care based onindividual needs
