Steward

Role summary: Keeps kitchen equipment, crockery, cutlery and back-of-house areas clean, sanitized and ready for service.

Key responsibilities

• Wash and sanitize pots, pans, utensils, crockery, cutlery and glassware by hand and dishwasher.
• Operate dishwashing machines safely and monitor wash/rinse temperatures and chemical levels.
• Clean kitchen floors, walls, drains, hoods, fridges and storage areas to the cleaning schedule.
• Remove and segregate waste and recyclables; keep bin areas clean.
• Store clean equipment in designated areas and report breakages and shortages.
• Handle cleaning chemicals safely, following labels and safety data sheets.
• Help kitchen staff with deliveries and basic prep when needed.

Requirements

• Basic education; no formal qualification required.
• Previous stewarding or cleaning experience in a kitchen is an advantage.
• Basic Food Hygiene certificate and UAE Occupational Health Card.
• Basic English for instructions and safety signs.
• Physically fit; able to lift, stand and work in a hot, wet environment on rotating shifts.
