Duties and Responsibilities
Assists in business planning and contribute to the corporate goals and objectives.
Assists corporate management establishing underwriting strategies, underlying policies and procedures with related guidelines in line with Corporate direction.
Assists Class underwriter in developing and managing portfolio.
Develops and oversees pricing strategies in line with market opportunities and internal return expectations.
Underwrite and monitors regularly to ensure risk selection, pricing and underwriting standards are met with.
Negotiates policy terms and conditions with clients, intermediaries ensuring Company’s underwriting guidelines and risk appetite are met with expected returns.
Authorises reinsurance of an inward business when risk exposures warrant, adhering to delegated authority matrix.
Provides specialist advice during claim process as and when required.
Consciously adheres to all regulatory and/or Government’s, state regulations, orders and pronouncement.
Responsible for meeting plan targets and remains accountable for variances.
Review and analyze portfolios to take corrective actions as and when required.
Ensures an appropriate level of personal specialist knowledge and competence is maintained through a defined programme of training and continuing professional development as determined by prevailing regulatory requirements and internal standards.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with brokers.
Conducts technical review of underwriting books of offices, branches assigned.
Oversees the teamwork of underlying employees to assure efficiency and effectiveness at all times and provide technical assistance within the team.
Any other functions as delegated.
Job Specifications
Academic Qualifications:
University graduate
Post-graduation degrees and or professional accreditation will be preferred.
Experience Required:
Minimum 10 years’ experience in insurance industry.
Training Required:
Management courses / Underwriting Seminars/Conferences
Languages:
Fluent in written and oral English
