Job Description - Assistant Manager - PR and Communications

The role holder is responsible for executing the PR, internal and external communications strategy, and supporting the VP – Marketing & Communications in handling media relations, crisis communications, new projects/initiatives communications, and executive communications across TECOM Group and its brands.

Responsibilities

Support with Strategy Development

  • Support the VP – Marketing & Communications to develop and implement integrated strategic communications and an agreed PR plan to advance TECOM Group’s brand identity; broaden awareness of its sector-focused communities and upcoming events; and increase the visibility of its campaigns across key stakeholder’s audiences.
  • To manage and maintain strong communications for each of the 10 business districts in the TECOM Group portfolio.

Internal Communications

  • Support the ongoing growth of culture, engagement initiatives and internal communications.
  • In consultation with internal stakeholders and leaders, draft, edit and secure distribution of internal communications materials (colleague communication, announcements, news, employee offers etc) while ensuring that announcements to media are aligned with internal announcements, and vice versa.
  • Partner with the Human Capital team to drive people initiatives including on-boarding and training communications.
  • Support other internal communications programming as required, such as town hall meetings, employee events, etc.

Intranet

• Support the strategy and execution of the company’s intranet, building it into a news and content hub to ensure people have access to the right information.

Marketing Communication

  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Branding team to develop and maintain content for corporate materials (website, brochures, video etc.)
  • Prepare and seek approval on external communications and community circulars that are issued by TECOM Group brands on a regular basis to ensure quality, governance, and alignment in messaging with an approved calendar and distribution.
  • Coordinate and work closely with business units to develop effective and efficient engagement programs such as mailers, circulars, communication, and press releases.

Reporting / Measurement

  • Monitor the industries in which TECOM Group is active in and competitive media coverage and flag mentions that are negative.
  • Gather intelligence and analytics from various sources and tracking tools, in order to assess and report on the success of specific strategies.

Public Relations & Crisis Management

  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders in preparing presentations, speeches, talking points, communication briefs, and other external media relations materials for the leadership.
  • Support the Head and VP – Marketing & Communications to identify, cultivate and maintain relationships with press and media influencers such as publishers, editors, reporters, PR professionals to ensure coverage of TECOM Group corporate and business’ programs, events, public announcements.
  • Collect information on public affairs in markets of corporate interest and share with the VP.

Governance

  • Support the Head and VP – Marketing & Communications to standardize communications’ related practices across TECOM Group.
  • Document and archive all internal and external communications for compliance purposes.
  • Seek approvals as per defined processes for all forms of corporate communications including, but not limited to, events, press releases, memos, speeches, adverts etc.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management – Internal / External

  • Prepare and maintain a roster of external agencies.
  • Coordinate and manage the selection process of external media agencies.
  • Provide clear communications brief to media agencies to ensure they understand gain a clear understanding of the communication intent and objective.
  • Manage the performance of the external media agencies to ensure they deliver within agreed timelines and quality standards.
  • Share communications guidelines with marketing managers to ensure all brand specific communication is in line with TECOM Group’s overall communication guidelines, strategy and plan.
  • Research and maintain a real-time understanding of the competitive landscape and prepare reports on relevant trends to be shared with the VP – Marketing & Communications regularly.
  • Stay up to date with developments in communications tools and techniques to implement relevant technologies and techniques for TECOM Group that will enhance engagement with audiences.

Communications Project Management

• Manage and contribute to a variety of projects, including the development of communications plans and content and delivers these projects on time and on budget, while keeping stakeholders informed of milestones, performance and timelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, PR, Public Affairs or Communications is required.

• Master’s degree in marketing, PR or Communications is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 6-8 years of experience in corporate communications, or PR.
  • At least 2 years in the Middle East is required.
  • Successful track record in garnering positive media coverage for a business or product in a complex business setting/market preferably within Retail / Real Estate.
