About The Role Grade Level (for internal use): 12 The Role: Associate Director, Research and Analysis Lead, Crude and Refined Products Flows The Team: This role is part of the Shipping Analytics division within Fuels, Chemicals and Resource Solutions in S&P Global Commodity Insights, working directly on the Commodities at Sea service which offers near real time visibility into waterborne trade volumes of major commodities, as well as storage, freight insights and fleet metrics. The Impact: The analyst team leader is responsible for overseeing a growing team of research analysts situated globally, which aim to deliver visibility for clients into the dynamics of physical trading and flows of crude oil, refined products, chemicals and other related products. This takes the form of market intelligence, robust data, modelling and written research analysis. What's In It For You

Responsibilities
  • Drive development of S&P Global Commodity Insights' Commodities at Sea service with the aim of delivering a 'best in class' product to clients.
  • Manage a team of global analysts, including mentoring and training; delegation of research deliverables and monitoring team performance.
  • Overall responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of market intelligence and publication of data-driven research and insight.
  • Strategize and execute on enhancements for S&P Global Commodities at Sea by setting goals and deliverables, documenting process flows and monitoring outcomes through metrics.
  • Partner with and work collaboratively with product management, data engineering, sales and commercial teams to deliver and communicate product enhancements to stakeholders.
  • Lead engagement with external clients and prospects and internal audiences through presentations, published research, and 1-1 meetings.
What We're Looking For
  • Expert-level understanding of demand and supply concepts, crude and refined product trade flows and pricing dynamics, refining economics, maritime shipping and macroeconomics.
  • At least 10-12years total experience in commodity research and/or trading with at least 5+ years of experience in liquid bulk market analysis.
  • Experience in physical and paper trading is an advantage.
  • A technical/academic background in data analytics, machine learning and economic forecasting models that demonstrates excellent numeracy/written skills and comfort working with large data sets from unstructured sources.
  • An 'ownership mentality' with a strong drive to take responsibility for the ensuring the quality of data and research.
  • A 'coach mentality' with the demonstrated capability to nurture, cross-train and retain a team of highly motived, skilled market analysts.
  • Strong organizational, time management and people management skills to effectively work across different time zones.
  • Excellent professional communication and presentation skills and the ability to establish and maintain strong professional relationships.
  • Highly skilled in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with creating or modifying workbooks in Tableau and Power BI, and some experience writing in SQL and/or Python.
