Job Description - Business Analyst - Majid Al Futtaim

Role Purpose:

The business analyst role will be able to support our leasing & financial technology projects and provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis. The business analyst will work closely with project managers, product managers, business stakeholders, and developers to define business requirements, conduct market research, and evaluate the impact of solutions. The role involves reviewing, analysing, and evaluating business systems and cross functional business needs, in relation to financial and leasing operations across our shopping malls. He/she will be tasked with documenting requirements, defining project scopes and objectives, and designing systems to align with our overall business strategies, with a focus on financial and leasing systems such as ERP, Yardi, financial planning tools, CRM and PartnerConnect.

Role Details – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and objectives.
  • Define and document business requirements / product requirements and translate these into user stories and functional specifications.
  • Conduct market research to identify industry trends and competitive landscape.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting requirements. Stay informed about changes in regulatory standards and proactively address any potential compliance issues.
  • Use data analysis tools and techniques to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Design, test, and implement new systems and processes to meet business needs following agile methodology
  • Develop and monitor data quality metrics to ensure data accuracy.
  • Facilitate change management processes to ensure successful system implementation and adoption
  • Provide training and support to stakeholders on new systems and processes.
  • Prepare and present reports to stakeholders and senior management.

Financial Analysis, Planning, Forecasting & Budgeting:

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data, including but not limited to, income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and financial ratios. Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop, implement, and manage the company's financial planning processes.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive financial models to support budgeting and forecasting, in collaboration with the Finance and operational teams
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Provide strategic financial insights to senior management to support decision-making.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and ensure alignment with company objectives.
  • Evaluate and recommend financial software and tools to enhance planning and reporting capabilities.

Capex Planning:

  • Oversee the capital expenditure planning process to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Develop and manage a multi-year capex budget, considering factors such as business growth, technology upgrades, and asset replacement.
  • Collaborate with department heads to identify capex needs and priorities.
  • Evaluate project proposals, conducting cost-benefit analyses to justify investments.
  • Establish a robust approval process for capital expenditure requests.
  • Monitor and report on capex performance, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Leasing and Customer Relationship Management:

  • Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and prospect to customer process
  • Oversee lead management process and continuously provide recommendations as to how to improve efficiencies and reduce time to market
  • Evaluate existing customer data and propose recurring reviews to ensure data accuracy

Market Research Analysis and Reporting:

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor analysis, and market dynamics. Provide insights and recommendations based on market research to support strategic decision-making.
  • Provide regular and ad-hoc financial reports to executive leadership.
  • Analyze variances between actual results and budget/forecasts.
  • Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) for financial performance measurement.
  • Assess the financial health of the organization and recommend strategies for improvement.
  • Implement financial controls and risk management practices.
  • Identify inefficiencies in existing business processes and recommend solutions to streamline operations and improve financial performance. Work cross-functionally to implement process improvements.
  • Develop financial models to evaluate business initiatives, investment opportunities, and strategic projects. Conduct sensitivity analysis to assess potential risks and rewards.

Functional/Technical Competencies:

  • Advanced proficiency in Office 365.
  • Strong understanding of the software development cycle, especially as it applies to financial systems and operations.
  • Ability to grasp complex business and technical concepts related to finance.
  • Strong communication skills, be able to explain complex concepts in a way that everyone can understand. This includes both written and verbal communication skills.
  • Profound analytical reasoning, which involves the capacity to deconstruct intricate issues into more manageable components.

Personal Characteristics and Required Background:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Finance, or a related field. A Postgraduate degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst, focusing on financial systems like ERP and Yardi and CRM
  • Hands-on experience with business development, documentation, and a solid understanding of financial business information systems.
  • Knowledge of user modelling language (UML), experience with ASP.NET MVC framework, C# language, and SQL skills.
  • Familiarity with financial planning and customer relationship management tools and software.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a good problem-solving attitude.
  • Ability to explain complex technical details to a non-technical audience.
