Objective of the Role
• The Sharjah Institute for Medical Research (SIMR) is currently offering an exciting opportunity for a Post-doctoral Research Associate position in the Health and Workforce Studies Research Group.
• We are looking to appoint a suitable candidate with training, experience and achievements in research related to health and workforce-related studies.
• The successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary research environment consisting of health sciences, public health and healthcare delivery.
• The successful candidate will help plan, support and coordinate action oriented-research projects related with workforce-related studies, aiming to investigate and improve the physical, psychological and professional work environment in the various sectors of UAE economy.
• The candidate will propose research studies, write research proposals, and conduct studies in the field of health and workforce issues and other related areas of interest to the research group.
• The candidate will carry out assigned duties from the group members in coordination with the group coordinator.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Post-doctoral Research Associate will include and will not be limited to:
1. Assist in project management.
2. Collaborate and work effectively with faculty, staff and project coordinators to ensure the timely delivery of key project milestones and high-quality outputs.
3. To work with researchers within the research group to develop and disseminate original research that supports the group's research agenda.
4. Prepare research ethical approvals.
5. Prepare drafts of research plans for grant applications. 6. Prepare drafts of research papers and reports for publication.
7. Contribute and oversee field surveys and interview guides and administration of surveys and qualitative data collection (i.e., interviews, focus groups).
8. Develop, modify and update data collection tools and software for different projects.
9. Lead on the data management and cleaning of datasets.
10. Analyze statistical data under faculty supervision.
11. Produce statistical outputs, tables and visualizations of findings.
12. Develop and deliver both written and visual outputs that are appropriate for different stakeholders.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
1. Hold a Ph.D. in public health, health services administration, health management, health policy or related fields.
2. Expertise in mixed methods research, namely in n qualitative studies: previous experience in doing document review and synthesis, ethnographic investigations, and semi-structured interviews will be valued. In quantitative studies, previous experience in the development and validation of questionnaires data collection, analysis and interpretation of data.
3. Expertise in statistical data analysis and data management.
4. Proficient with statistical software such as SPSS, Stata, or R.
5. Proficient with qualitative methods, data collection and analysis, including software such as NVivo.
6. A publication record in peer-reviewed journals of recognized excellence.
7. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (mastery of Arabic is a plus).
8. Excellent organizational, teamwork and interpersonal skills. 9. Ability to work proactively and independently.
