The Head of Data Engineering is a pivotal global role based in Dubai, responsible for leading and strategizing the organization's data engineering initiatives. This position demands a blend of expertise in data analytics and data engineering, making it ideal for a professional passionate about both domains. You will spearhead the Data Engineering team, providing strategic direction, overseeing the design and maintenance of scalable data architectures using AWS, Redshift, and Glue, and leading advanced integration projects to ensure seamless data flow between systems. What you'll do

• Leadership and Strategy: Lead the Data Engineering team, providing strategic direction and oversight for all data-related initiatives. Develop and implement data strategies that align with the organization's goals.
• Data Architecture Development: Oversee the design and maintenance of scalable and efficient data architectures using AWS, Redshift, and Glue. Ensure robust data pipelines for seamless data processing and transformation.
• Advanced Data Integration: Spearhead advanced integration projects, ensuring seamless data flow between systems through optimized ETL processes and innovative solutions.
• Database and Data Warehouse Management: Direct the optimization and management of databases and data warehouses, ensuring high performance and reliability.
• Data Quality and Compliance: Establish standards and processes for data quality and integrity to maintain high data reliability across the organization. Ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
• Automation and System Improvements: Lead the development of automation scripts and monitoring systems using tools like Airflow, enhancing the proactive identification and resolution of data issues.
• Team Collaboration and Leadership: Collaborate with senior management and cross-functional teams to define data needs and deliver comprehensive data solutions. Mentor and develop a high-performing data engineering team

Who will excel?

• Educational Background: Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field preferred.
• Experience: 7+ years of experience in data engineering with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Technical Expertise: Proficient in Python and SQL, with a deep understanding of AWS services like Redshift and Glue, SQL databases, and data modeling.
• Advanced Knowledge: Expertise in data warehousing principles, containerization, orchestration technologies, and machine learning frameworks.
• Orchestration Tools: Advanced experience with job orchestration tools such as Airflow.
• Analytics and Visualization: Proficiency with advanced dashboarding tools like Metabase.
• Strong Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage and inspire a team, excellent problem-solving capabilities, and exceptional communication skills.
• Continuous Learning: Demonstrated eagerness to stay ahead of technology trends and explore new methodologies in data engineering.
• Cloud Platforms: Extensive experience with major cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to inspire and motivate cross-culture teams.
• In-depth knowledge of software development methodologies, tools, and best practices.
• Manage workloads and teams across multiple countries and timezones.
