Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, the ideal candidate should have strong experience in distribution/order fulfillment, warehouse management systems, and continuous improvement. You will have high energy and a passion for people to drive the expansion of our operations capability and scalability while improving direct labour efficiency.

The Operations Manager is responsible for all receiving, inventory and production outcomes - using instant customer feedback and managing expectations to drive magical meal experiences for our growing customer base. 

You will be accountable for planning and executing exciting step changes within Hello Chef’s operational systems and processes. This includes working cross-functionally across procurement, food, software development and digital product to solve our biggest customer and operational problems. 

Mission

The mission for this role is to improve our direct labour efficiency from 9.4 to 13 by the end of June 2025.

• Reducing customer complaints


• Reducing operational waste


• Municipality Grading, HACCP compliance

What you’ll do

• Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with business goals and objectives.


• Identify areas for process improvement and implement measures to enhance efficiency and productivity.


• Optimize resource allocation, including personnel, equipment, and facilities, to meet operational demands effectively.


• Build and guide a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.


• Oversee end-to-end supply chain operations, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of ingredients and products.


• Establish and enforce quality control processes and standards to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction.


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance the customer experience throughout order fulfillment and delivery.


• Identify and manage operational risks, implementing contingency plans and preventive measures.


• Analyze operational data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor performance and drive data-driven decision-making.


• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and implementing process enhancements.

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of progressive responsibility in order fulfillment and warehousing, including at least 3 years in a management role, ideally within the e-commerce and/or food industry.


• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics or similar relevant qualification.


• Strong people leader who is interested in spending a significant portion of your time in the operation and working directly with all levels of staff.


• Experience with the use and development of warehouse management systems.


• Experience and understanding of the management of S.H.E.Q.  


• You have deep experience with root cause analysis, lean methods, and best practices to improve health and safety, quality, speed, and operational cost.


• Strong communication and influencing skills.
