Job Description

AECOM is seeking a driven Geotechnical Intern to join our renowned Civil Infrastructure team. This position provides valuable hands-on experience in Geotechnical and Ground Engineering, contributing to significant regional projects. Interns will benefit from comprehensive on-the-job training, industry exposure, and mentorship, integrating into AECOM's operations. Working alongside seasoned engineers on actual projects, interns will gain practical industry knowledge.

Candidate Specifics: We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about developing skills in geotechnical engineering areas including:

• Geotechnical Investigations + Assessment of Geotechnical Parameters
• Preparation of Ground Models for different design situations
• Shallow Foundation Design + Deep Foundation Design
• Earthworks (Embankment) Design
• Slope Design
• Excavation Lateral Support Design
• Ground Improvement Design
• Liquefaction Assessment
• Geophysical Survey
• Seismic Design
• Geotechnics of dam design

Software Experience: You will have the opportunity to gain proficiency in software packages including:

• Slope/W or Slide
• Seep/W
• Plaxis 2D or RS2 or Sigma/W
• Repute, Group, and LPile
• PDisp or Settle 3D
• CPeT-IT
• CLiq or Liquefy-Pro

Key benefits of our internship program include a potential pathway to a full-time Graduate role.  Exceptional interns meeting our performance criteria will receive a conditional offer for a full-time role and placement in our 2025 Graduate Program upon successful degree completion.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in the 3rd year of a Civil Engineering Bachelor's Degree program at an accredited University with exposure to one or more of the following subjects:
  • Geotechnical Engineering
  • Engineering Geology
  • Geological Engineering
  • Foundation Engineering
  • Soil Mechanics
  • Rock Mechanics
  • Rock Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
• Maintaining a GPA of 2.7 or higher.
• Available to participate in our 11-week Summer Internship Program from June to August 2024.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
