Job Description

Join AECOM as a motivated Intern - Urban Designer and gain hands-on experience in Urban Design and Master Planning while contributing to impactful regional projects. AECOM is looking for visionary urban design students to get involved in our transformative projects, drive sustainable development and create resilient urban landscapes. Passionate about crafting innovative solutions for our ever-evolving cities? Then we want to hear from you! This role offers comprehensive on-the-job training, industry exposure, and mentorship within the world of AECOM.

As an Intern Urban Designer, you will collaborate closely with the design team to deliver diverse master plans across various projects in the region. You'll support conceptual urban design and planning work, site analysis, master planning, development briefs, and design strategies. Responsibilities during your internship will include:

• Collecting, comprehending, and graphically representing Zoning Regulations, local regulatory frameworks, and urban design guidelines in operating regions.
• Assisting senior staff in preparing qualitative and quantitative diagrams and drawings, including benchmark and precedent studies.
• Gathering relevant design typologies for project brief discussions with Senior Urban Designers.
• Contributing to maintaining the office's physical and digital library of submitted projects, urban design books, and innovative ideas.
• Analyzing project briefs and sites, collaborating with peers to develop comprehensive site reviews and recommendations.
• Acquiring or progressing towards a basic understanding of urban design attributes used in projects.
• Translating and representing innovative design solutions using digital tools and personal skills.
• Graphically representing ideas and concepts, developing sequential narrative representations.

Key benefits of our internship program include a potential pathway to a full-time Graduate role. Exceptional interns meeting our performance criteria will receive a conditional offer for a full-time role and placement in our 2025 Graduate Program upon successful degree completion.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in the 3rd year of an Urban Design or Archiecture Bachelor's Degree program at an accredited University
• Maintaining a GPA of 2.7 or higher.
• Available to participate in our 11-week Summer Internship Program from June to August 2024.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
