Job Description - Work Experience - AUS May - August 2026

Who we are


Barker Langham is a global leader in cultural consultancy, having successfully delivered over 300 projects in 27 countries, ranging from community oral history initiatives to international mega-museums. With offices and teams across the globe including the UK, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, North America, Europe and Asia, our diverse team provides services in interpretation, strategy, experience and exhibition design, strategic masterplanning, and collections and acquisitions. 



Combining local and global perspectives, the team creates and executes strategic, holistic and bespoke solutions for museums, governments, corporations and charities, approaching each project with the same passion for seeking out and telling compelling stories, and creating memorable and meaningful experiences.



We are recognised across the sector as pioneering cultural planners and thought leaders, committed to providing guidance to the wider cultural sector and leading vital conversations around climate, social justice and the future  of museums.



We serve as expert advisors and mentors for organisations such as the National Lottery Heritage Fund, ICOM, the European Union, the Museums Association, and UNESCO. 



Job description 



 We are interested in hearing from interns who are interested in working in the cultural and heritage sector. Our interns form a core and integral part of our community. Through the duration of the appointment the candidate will:



  • Work alongside our researchers and consultants, assisting in the production of reports and presentations to clients

  •  Join regular company and teams’ meetings 

  • Be allocated a mentor who will be the main point of contact and will support the candidate development 


 


Tasks



  • Qualitative and quantitative benchmarking analysis 

  • Market and audience data gathering and analysis

  • Synthesising key findings and producing research outputs

  • Writing up key findings in reports and presentations 

  • Presenting and discussing your key findings with internal colleagues

  • Giving an informal presentation on a topic of choice to the wider BL team during one of our ‘TeaSearch’ sessions



Person's profile



  • Professional/educational background in economics or management, preferably applied to the cultural sector

  • Demonstrable interest in the cultural sector, including its economics

  • High level of attention to detail while working towards multiple deadlines

  • Self-starter with an analytical mindset and a proactive approach to problem-solving

  • Excellent writing and verbal skills

  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Proficient with Google Suite

  • Proficient in English - proficiency in other languages is appreciated


 


Start and duration



  • The internship is intended to start on the 12th January 2026  

  • 16 weeks duration 


 


Location



  • Hybrid, Open to students in Dubai and Abu Dhabi

  • Having a computer and reliable internet access is required
