We are offering an excellent opportunity for a 1st Line WAN 24/7 Network Engineer with a strong foundation in networking, eager to learn and grow into more advanced technical roles. Join our skilled team in Birmingham to manage and maintain our Customer Network WAN estate as part of our 24/7 BAU operations team, ensuring the global delivery of secure network services.

• Act as the first point of contact for WAN-related incidents and alerts.
• Work shifts in a 24/7 environment, including 12-hour day and night shifts.
• Perform triage, basic configuration, and 1st line-level troubleshooting.
• Monitor and maintain network infrastructure across global estates.
• Escalate complex issues while ensuring ownership and resolution.
• Collaborate with 2nd and 3rd line teams to build your skills.
• Engage with internal and external 3rd parties.
• Keep documentation accurate and up to date.

• Previous experience in a 1st line support environment or a NOC role is advantageous.
• Working knowledge of Routing & Switching (ideally CCNA-level).
• Familiarity with BGP, MPLS, IPSEC VPNs, PKI.
• Clear, professional communication and problem-solving skills.
• A proactive, “right first time” mindset.
• Exposure to Juniper routers is advantageous, but not essential.

• This is a fully on-site position in Birmingham.
• Working Pattern: 4 days on (12hr shifts – 7am – 7pm), 4 days off, followed by 4 nights on (12hr shifts – 7pm – 7am), 4 nights off.
• Clearance Required: SC Clearance active
