Redbridge Council is looking for a skilled and committed Accommodation Needs Assessment Officer to join our Housing Needs team on a 3+ month contract. This is a crucial role in supporting residents facing housing difficulties, ensuring timely and accurate assessments of their needs.

• Conduct thorough assessments for households presenting as homeless or at risk of homelessness.

• Interview applicants and, where necessary, conduct home visits to gather evidence and verify circumstances.

• Determine duties under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

• Liaise with internal departments and external partners to secure suitable housing solutions.

• Maintain detailed case records in accordance with GDPR and council policies.

• Contribute to safeguarding processes as required.

• Experience in housing needs, homelessness prevention, or a related field within a local authority.

• Solid understanding of housing legislation, especially the Homelessness Reduction Act.

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage complex caseloads.

• Confident communicator with excellent IT and report-writing skills.

• DBS may be required.

• £24 per hour (via Umbrella)
