Job Description - Accommodation Support Officer

Accommodation Support Worker
  • Location: Bolton Council
  • Job Type: Full-time, Contract (3 months)
  • Working Hours: 37 hours a week on a rota basis between 8.00am - 21.00pm Monday to Sunday
  • Pay Rate: £14.13 per hour (paye)

Bolton Council are looking for a dedicated Accommodation Support Worker to join our team on a three-month contract. This role is crucial in assisting the Local Authority to manage and support homeless clients in various temporary accommodation settings. If you have experience and a proven track record in this field, we want you to apply.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Actively involve in making placements into various temporary accommodations, including the local authority's own stock and spot-purchased accommodation.
  • Manage your own client caseloads, accessing all necessary support channels and proactively seeking secure move-on accommodation for clients within statutory temporary accommodation.
  • Provide office support services to staff and management, working closely with other agencies both external and internal.
  • Handle initial referrals, assess, source, and arrange appropriate placements or suitable accommodation to meet customer needs.
  • Find emergency accommodation for individuals/families in housing crisis and provide out-of-hours service to assist with homeless presentations and emergencies.
  • Collect and deposit relevant charges, maintain accurate records, and perform other tasks related to cash handling as appropriate.
  • Provide appropriate support services to customers, including those who may be vulnerable and/or subject to safeguarding.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience working with homeless clients in temporary accommodation settings.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and caseloads effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders.
  • Experience in office administration and support.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the update service is required for this position.
  • Shift pattern is and 8 day rolling shift. 5 days in, 8.00am until 18.15pm--- 3 days off. Then 4 lates in, 11.00am until 21.00pm --- 4 days off. Equates to 37 hours per week when all levelled out. The successful candidate will initially spend first 2 weeks learning the role, working 8.00am untill 16.00pm Monday to Friday.
