Accountant

Fixed-Term Opportunity - 12 months initially

A dynamic and fast-paced finance team is seeking a proactive Interim Accountant to support a broad range of financial tasks during a key period. This hybrid role offers flexibility, variety, and the chance to work closely with senior finance leaders while gaining valuable experience in a complex business environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce accurate and timely management accounts and financial reports
• Reconcile balance sheet and profit & loss accounts, including daily bank reconciliation review
• Prepare accruals, prepayments, and maintain the fixed asset register
• Compile monthly accounts for review by the Financial Controller
• Monitor and calculate customer rebates in line with trading agreements
• Support VAT submissions, including export and zero-rated sales
• Assist in resolving invoice queries and approving credit notes
• Contribute to system and process improvements, including documentation and testing
• Provide analyses for corporation tax and submit ONS returns
• Support general accountancy, admin, and fleet-related finance activities
• Actively contribute to team development and overall departmental goals

What We’re Looking For:

• Part-qualified accountant (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA) or AAT qualified as a minimum
• Solid experience across ledger accounting (sales, purchase, nominal)
• Strong management accounts experience with ability to meet tight deadlines
• Proficient in Excel - handling and analysing large datasets
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
• Commercially aware and systems-savvy
• Adaptable, self-motivated, and confident in making decisions
• A collaborative team player with a growth mindset
