An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant to join an organisation in Milton Keynes on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role offers you the chance to become part of a collaborative and knowledgeable team that plays a pivotal role in statutory reporting and internal controls, ensuring accurate and timely financial submissions for key stakeholders.

Financial Accountant

Salary - £38k - £46k

Contract - 12 month FTC

Working Pattern - Hybrid, 3 days in office

Responsibilities

• Ensure the timely completion of month-end reporting tasks by processing journals that accurately reflect the fixed asset register, accruals, VAT, and tax requirements.
• Carry out post month-end activities such as balance sheet reconciliations, trend analysis, and preparation of VAT returns to maintain robust financial records.
• Deliver quarterly financial statements related to the Balance Sheet for multiple business units by analysing detailed customer data across various sources.
• Review data completeness and gain a thorough understanding of underlying trends to support high-quality financial deliverables for key stakeholders.
• Continuously assess specific data items to ensure compliance with evolving financial reporting standards and future requirements.
• Respond promptly and professionally to queries from group reporting teams, statutory accounts departments, as well as internal and external auditors.
• Support the Finance Manager on ongoing projects including ledger replacement initiatives, process automation efforts, and other continuous improvement activities.

Experience Required

• Demonstrated experience working under tight deadlines while consistently delivering high-quality outputs through excellent organisational skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with proven ability to manage large datasets efficiently for analysis and reporting purposes.
• Strong problem-solving abilities combined with practical experience in data management within a finance context.
