Job Description - Admin and Support Services Officer

  • Location: Barbican, London
  • Job Type: Temporary contract until 05/12/2025 with potential to extend. Full-time.

Our client, a prestigious public sector organisation, are seeking an Admin and Support Services Officer. This role sits within the Housing Customer and Support Services team, part of the Repairs Service Desk in Property Services. This role is crucial as the first point of contact in receiving, responding to, and administering repairs and maintenance service requests and enquiries from customers.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Serve as the first point of contact customers regarding service requests and enquiries via phone, in person, email, text, and self-service portal.
  • Provide professional, customer-focused, and timely responses to service requests and enquiries, ensuring detailed and accurate resolutions.
  • Manage, update, and maintain customer records and other databases, process purchase and repair works orders, and handle a high volume of data entry and telephone enquiries.
  • Liaise with internal colleagues and third parties, such as contractors and suppliers, to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Produce performance information and reports about repairs and associated procedures to assist in monitoring contract performance.
  • Provide a range of administrative duties including issuing notices, updating databases, and producing guidance notes for residents.
  • Organise and prioritise own workload to meet targets and deadlines and support colleagues in administrative functions.
  • Occasionally assist the reception team with various duties including telephone handling and customer reception.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5 GCSEs including English and Maths.
  • Strong ICT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role such as a call centre or reception area.
  • Experience in data entry and general administration duties.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise, and handle high volumes of work.
  • Knowledge of housing issues such as repairs and maintenance is desirable.
