Job Description - Administrator

  • Location: Rochdale Council
  • Job Type: Full-time, Contract (3 months)
  • Pay Rate: £12.85 per hour (paye)

Rochdale Council are looking for a dedicated Administrator to join our Environmental Management Service team. This role involves handling complaints and requests efficiently and effectively, providing a wide range of business and technical support functions. If you have a knack for administration and a passion for environmental management, we encourage you to apply.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Serve as the main customer contact at Green Lane Reception, both in person and by telephone.
  • Undertake various business and technical support functions including data input and retrieval, managing environmental management records (both electronic and paper), and processing incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Assist in the procurement of goods and services, including ordering stationery and maintaining data quality for all environmental management records.
  • Prepare and collate information, including preparing incoming payments for central banking and taking payments.
  • Assist with the collection of data for Service Key Performance Indicators and log customer/member queries.
  • Provide technical assistance, information, and guidance on issues relating to the service.
  • Use ICT systems such as Word for typing letters and Excel for spreadsheets to complete duties.
  • Prepare routine correspondence and keep up-to-date information about the service.
  • Monitor levels of office consumables, process orders and invoices, and ensure invoices are paid within the Council’s target.
  • Assist in the reconciliation of cash income and prepare for banking, maintaining records of cash and cheques received.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in an administrative role, preferably within an environmental or public sector setting.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in using ICT systems, including Word, Excel, and database management.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Experience in handling complaints and managing customer queries.
