Adult Safeguarding Lawyer

Rate: £50-£60 per hour - Negotiable DOE

Are you a qualified lawyer with a passion for safeguarding adults and protecting vulnerable people? We are currently working with a respected London Borough Council that is actively seeking an experienced Adult Safeguarding Lawyer to join their Legal Services team. This role offers a varied caseload and the opportunity to make a direct impact in supporting some of the community's most critical needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload covering Court of Protection, DOLS, Care Act matters, adult safeguarding, financial assessments, and associated public law issues.
• Advise council departments on a wide range of adult social care and safeguarding matters, including judicial reviews, homelessness, mental health law, and Section 21A applications.
• Attend court as required and provide advocacy where appropriate.
• Support other legal colleagues and provide mentoring, training, or guidance as needed.
• Attend committees or member briefings and prepare detailed reports on casework when required.

Key Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEX with at least 2 years' post-qualification experience in adult social care and safeguarding law.
• Strong knowledge of Court of Protection proceedings, Care Act, Mental Health Act, and related areas.
• Excellent drafting, legal research, communication, and case management skills.
• Ability to manage a complex caseload with limited supervision.
• Experience working in a local government legal setting is highly desirable.
