Locum Adult Social Care, Education and Employment Lawyer – London Local Authority – Hybrid or Remote Working – £55+ per hour – 3 Months+

Venn Group is working with a respected local authority in London to recruit an Adult Social Care, Education and Employment Lawyer on a locum basis for an initial 3 month role.

Details:

• Job Title: Locum Lawyer – Adult Social Care / Education / Employment
• Hourly Rate: £55 per hour Umbrella (negotiable depending on experience)
• Length of Contract: 3 months initially, with strong potential for extension
• Working Pattern: Full-time, 36 hours
• Location: London
• Hybrid Working: 1 day per week in-office

Duties/Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary local government legal team, supporting a shared legal service that advises multiple boroughs and public sector clients. Key responsibilities may include:

• Advising on Adult Social Care, Education (including SEND), and Employment law matters
• Managing a full caseload with minimal supervision
• Providing politically sensitive legal advice to officers and members
• Representing clients at meetings, tribunals, and court (as required)
• Drafting and negotiating complex legal documents and ensuring compliance with governance frameworks
• Supporting or mentoring junior lawyers (depending on seniority level)

Preferred experience:

• Demonstrable post-qualified experience in at least one of the key practice areas
• Familiarity with local authority or public sector legal work
• Ability to handle complex and high-profile legal matters independently
• Strong understanding of governance, equalities law, and data protection compliance
