Our client, a long-standing service provider, is currently seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their established finance team on a full-time, 12 month fixed term contract basis.

As the Assistant Accountant, you will contribute to the effective management of daily financial processes, supporting various accounting functions and ensuring accuracy across transactions and reconciliations.

The responsibilities:

• Manage invoice processing, company credit cards, and expense claims while adhering to payment deadlines and terms.
• Ensure accurate monthly balance sheet reconciliations, management account preparation, and timely submission of financial results.
• Proactively resolve discrepancies and optimise early payment discount opportunities.
• Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns in alignment with regulatory requirements.
• Execute weekly supplier and ad hoc payments, support bank transaction processing, and ensure timely account reconciliations.
• Facilitate efficient month-end closures through timely transaction processing, audit support, and adaptable workload prioritisation.
• Act as the primary finance liaison for customer inquiries, driving process improvements and assisting with ad-hoc projects to enhance operational efficiency.

The candidate:

• Proven experience in a similar role, with strong expertise in balance sheet reconciliations and month-end processes.
• Partially or fully qualified AAT, or equivalent practical experience in finance and accounting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and skilled in using a range of accounting software systems.
• Meticulous and reliable in maintaining and preparing accurate financial records.
