Assistant Accountant

Service Care Solutions are working alongside a local authority in Caerphilly who ae looking to recruit an experienced Assistant Accountant, to join their team on a temporary contract.

Role: Assistant Accountant.
Location: Caerphilly.
Rate: £17.79 to £20.28 per hour (PAYE exc.) / £19.75 to £22.61 per hour (Umbrella).
Contract: 9 months on going.
Working: Full-time, Hybrid.

Support the Senior Accountant in delivering financial management, reporting, and advice for grant-funded projects. Ensure accurate budget monitoring, compliance with funding requirements, and timely financial reporting to senior management and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing financial reports and budget monitoring for grant schemes.
• Support budget setting and provide guidance to managers on grant-related budgets.
• Prepare year-end accounts and assist with financial claims and submissions.
• Monitor grant expenditure and prepare accurate grant claims and returns.
• Liaise with service managers, funding bodies, and external organisations.
• Reconcile holding accounts and maintain accurate financial coding.
• Supervise and delegate tasks to junior finance team members.
• Represent the Finance team in meetings and support financial training delivery.
• Experience in public sector finance or grant accounting.
• Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
