We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established client in Sheffield who is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their finance team on a fixed-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with solid accounting experience and strong Excel skills to contribute to a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities for an Assistant Accountant

• Prepare monthly management accounts for overhead cost centres
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
• Process and reconcile prepayments, accruals, and standard charges
• Post and reconcile company credit card transactions
• Perform regular balance sheet reconciliations
• Input and reconcile banking transactions (GBP and Euro)
• Code supplier invoices and set up payment runs
• Review staff expenses for policy compliance
• Provide general administrative support to the finance team
• Manage the finance mailbox and support external audits

Experience required for an Assistant Accountant

• Experience using ERP systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups) and Outlook
• Strong communication and numeracy skills
• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles
• 2 years’ experience in a similar finance role
